Ron Finemore Transport (RFT), a leading link in Woolworth’s freight logistics chain, has backed the supermarket’s initiative to provide ‘care packs’ for drivers who deliver to its distribution centres or stores.
The Woolworths program announcement last week is another in a recent line of actions recognising the contributions of truck drivers during the Covid-19 crisis.
About 4,000 packages have been put together nationwide, containing practical items with a health and wellbeing focus for drivers, including hand sanitiser, tissues, disposable gloves, water, coffee vouchers and snacks.
RFT’s Orange depot was visited by NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole as part of the announcement.
The company is a long-term hauler for Woolworths and describes the initiative as a ‘true reflection’ of its relationship with the supermarket chain.
“Ron Finemore Transport appreciates the acknowledgement of Woolworths and would like to thank the Woolworths team for the ‘care packs’ they have put together for our truck drivers.
“It’s a true reflection of the mutual appreciation both companies share and further underlines one of our core company values: people.”

In its announcement, Woolworths notes the additional volume of stock moving through its distribution centres and into stores “has only been made possible with the support of our valued transport partners and their teams”.
“The last couple of months have been extremely busy across our entire supply chain network,” Woolworths chief supply chain officer Paul Graham says.
“Many drivers will have made sacrifices at work or at home to keep the food and essentials flowing into stores for Australian communities.
“We appreciate everything they do for Woolworths, and the care packs are just a small way of giving something extra back and saying thank you for all their efforts.
“Truck drivers are essential to our business and we want to do what we can to support their safety and wellbeing as well, just like we do for our own team members.”
