About the role
Join RFT as a full-time, permanent Driver Trainer based at our Barnawartha Woolworths DC — the operational heart of our network. Reporting into the Operations team, you’ll use your real-world driving experience to coach, mentor and develop the next generation of professional drivers, helping build capability, confidence and a strong safety culture across our fleet.
This role is ideal for experienced drivers looking to transition off the road and into a rewarding career where they can share their knowledge and help develop others. A formal training qualification is not required to apply — we’re looking for people with the right experience, attitude and passion for coaching.

Duties
- Coach and assess drivers on-road and in the yard to build skill and safety
- Conduct driver recruitment assessments, inductions, and on-road observations
- Complete structured driver reviews at 1 and 3 months post-commencement
- Carry out drug and alcohol testing, coupling checks, and site inspections
- Support other depots, occasional travel to Melbourne, Wagga, Sydney, Canberra or Orange.
Skills & experience
- HC licence (minimum), MC licence highly regarded
- Demonstrated heavy vehicle driving experience in supermarket DC operations
- Strong knowledge of WHS and Chain of Responsibility (COR) requirements
- Natural coaching ability — drivers learn from you because you’ve done the job
