Managing Psychological Safety in the Workplace

When we look after our mental health we put ourselves in a better place to cope with day-to-day stressors and challenges, enabling us to be happier and mentally healthier.
The NHVR in conjunction with AP Psychology have developed a series of practical tool box talks on looking after mental health and wellbeing. As we begin a new year and continue to be impacted by some exacerbated challenges caused by COVID-19, it’s important to exercise our mental health just like we would our physical health.

HHTS Project Working Group Progress

An HHTS Project Working Group made up of members of the HHTS Advisory Board and each of the HHTS Working Groups (Training & Education, Standards, Wellbeing and Technology Development) has been meeting across December and January to contribute to the development of a single national mental health strategy for the sector with the ongoing development of an overarching Industry Blueprint, best practice Framework and Guidelines.

The group consists of both participants across the road transport, logistics and mental health industry experts led by HHTS partner AP Psychology. The Industry Blueprint is set to launch nationally in late March 2021.

SafeWorkNSW Glove Box Guide

SafeWorkNSW has recently released the Safety Around Your Vehicle Glove Box Guide , a practical, principle-based guide for drivers that focuses on high risk tasks performed around trucks and work vehicles. ‘Safety Around Your Vehicle (SAYV)’ is designed to raise awareness around WHS issues for high-risks tasks that are performed around the vehicle. A section on Driver Health looks at the importance of the health and wellbeing of drivers including both mental and physical health, achieving a work life balance and making sure that drivers are fit to drive.
